H8RZ

Preceded by the short film Rogue Taxidermy (7 min.)

Alex, the lone survivor of a massive high school explosion, is detained while the administration, police, and school-board-appointed lawyer sift through a story of blackmail, cyberbullying, and murder to try to figure out exactly what happened. Deftly woven together between past and present day, this surviving student’s tale unfolds. After being caught in a cheating scandal, Alex joins a motley crew of students to expunge their failing grades. Their scheme turns down a dangerous path when they are blackmailed by an anonymous source—supposedly a fellow student who recently committed suicide. They find themselves obeying orders from beyond the grave as they try to discover who is tormenting them and why before this ruse leads to disaster and bloody mayhem. Discussion with writer-director Derrick Borte, screenwriter Daniel Forte, actor Israel Broussard, and moderator Jack Steinberg
