Virginia Film Festival hosts an intensive internship program each Fall semester that gives eight students hands-on experience in all aspects of planning and running a four-day festival.

Our internships are open only to current, full-time University of Virginia students.

2018 Internship Program

We are now accepting applications for the Fall 2018 Internship program. Please review the VFF Internship Description for an overview of the Festival, time commitments, expectations, the different internships available, and application instructions.

Fall 2018 Internships are available in the following key areas:

  • Arts Administration
  • Fundraising
  • Production & Guest Services
  • Publicity & Marketing
  • UVA Student Engagement
  • Youth Education Programs


Applications for 2018 are due via e-mail to by Friday, April 27. Put “2018 VFF Internship Application [Last Name]” as your email subject. You can apply for more than one internship.

To apply, please send:

  • your resume
  • a cover letter detailing your position(s) of interest from the six key areas and reason for your selection
  • 3 out the 6 supplemental materials noted in the VFF Internship Description

Returning interns may submit a letter of interest and updated resume in lieu of a formal application. The letter of interest should include reflective comments on your experience and growth during and since your VFF position, what specific positions you would like to be considered for now, and why you feel you are uniquely qualified to serve in this position.
