Featuring a glimpse at the ten-part, 18-hour documentary film series, Ken Burns and Lynn Novick recount the Vietnam War. Including testimony from nearly 80 witnesses, Vietnamese combatants, and civilians from both sides, the series provides a visceral and immersive account of the epoch. Utilizing digitally remastered archival footage and audio recordings from inside the Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon administrations, the series serves as a platform for a national discussion about what happened during the Vietnam War and what lessons are to be learned. This screening will feature clips from the series focusing on two substantive areas: decision-making by leaders and testimony from participants. Discussion with co-director Lynn Novick, Marc Selverstone (UVA), and Stephen Cushman (UVA)
