Current Job Openings

We are currently accepting applications for our Fall 2020 seasonal staff positions. Instructions on how to apply can be found in each PDF linked to below. All seasonal positions will be hired to work full-time for three months, will be paid hourly with overtime pay, and will support the planning and implementation of the 2020 VAFF.

2020 Communications Coordinator  (Full Time, Seasonal)

  • Dates of Employment: 8/10/2020 through 11/6/2020
  • Work Schedule: 40+ hours/week
  • Brief Description: The VAFF’s Communications Coordinator will work with Festival staff to plan and implement paid advertising, outreach marketing, and social media campaigns around the 5-day Festival and will also support media relations, copywriting, box office reporting, and website maintenance.

2020 Guest Services Coordinator (Full Time, Seasonal)

  • Dates of Employment: 8/10/2020 through 11/6/2020
  • Work Schedule: 40+ hours/week
  • Brief Description: The VAFF’s Guest Services Coordinator serves as the main point of contact for the Festival’s attending guest artists, coordinating travel and accommodations and providing hospitality leading up to and during the Virginia Film Festival.

2020 Production Coordinator (Full Time, Seasonal)

  • Dates of Employment: 8/10/2020 through 11/6/2020
  • Work Schedule: 40+ hours/week
  • Brief Description: The VAFF’s Production Coordinator serves as the main point of contact for the Festival’s technical staff and screening venues, coordinating audio-visual and technical logistics leading up to and during the Virginia Film Festival.

Fall 2020 Internship Program

Virginia Film Festival hosts an intensive internship program each Fall semester that gives seven students hands-on experience in all aspects of planning and running a five-day festival. Our internships are open only to current, full-time University of Virginia students.

Fall Internships are available in the following key areas:

  • Fundraising
  • Production & Guest Services
  • Publicity & Marketing
  • Festival Scholars Program
  • Youth Education Programs

Internship Applications

We are now accepting applications for our Fall 2020 Internship program.

Please review the VAFF Internship Description for an overview of the Festival, time commitments, expectations, the different internships available, and application instructions.

Applications for 2020 are due via e-mail to eb4va@virginia.edu by Wednesday, April 29 at Noon. Put “2020 VAFF Internship Application [Your Last Name]” as your email subject. You can apply for more than one internship.

To apply, please send:

  • your resume
  • cover letter detailing your position(s) of interest from the five key areas and reason for your selection(s). If you are applying for more than one position, you only need to submit one cover letter.
  • Supplemental materials – from the Internship Description, please submit #1 and choose two more to submit from #2 – #6 with your application (we are looking for three total).

Returning interns may submit a letter of interest and updated resume in lieu of a formal application. The letter of interest should include reflective comments on your experience and growth during and since your VAFF position, what specific positions you would like to be considered for now, and why you feel you are uniquely qualified to serve in this position.

VAFF Staff will review applications and finalists will be invited to interview via video or phone. Internship offers will be extended during the summer.
