Moonlight Movies
The Virginia Film Festival takes to the outdoors again this summer to present a series of free screenings at locations throughout the Charlottesville area. All Moonlight Movies screenings are free and open to the public, and begin at sundown (approximately 8:30 PM). Come early to enjoy food, Bold Rock hard cider, and live DJs by WTJU. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or beach chairs to sit on.
Moonlight Movies is presented by Bold Rock Hard Cider with generous support from C-VILLE Weekly, the AV Company, and WTJU.

This 1988 classic comedy-horror by Tim Burton follows Michael Keaton in the infamous role of Betelgeuse (pronounced “Beetlejuice”), a devious ghost. A newly deceased couple, Adam and Barbara Maitland (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) enlist the help of Betelgeuse in terrorizing the new occupants of their former home. They soon learn their mistake, as Betelgeuse wreaks havoc beyond their control.

This time Charlie Brown is on an adventure to improve his chances with the Little Red-Haired Girl, while Snoopy and Woodstock write a novel about the World War I Flying Ace.

Released in 1965, this is the fifth film in the “Frankie and Annette” beach party film series directed by William Asher. Linda Evans stars as Sugar Kane, a singer whose agent (Paul Lynde) is using publicity stunts to promote her latest album against her will. Frankie (Frankie Avalon) and a kooky bunch of beach-goers (Annette Funicello, Deborah Walley, Jody McCrea) take up sky-diving, meet a mermaid, and rescue Sugar Cane from a gang of bikers in their usual summer shenanigans. Buster Keaton and Don Rickles make cameo appearances in this hilarious romp.

George Lucas’ coming-of-age film about cruising and the rock and roll culture of 1962 is told in a series of vignettes about a group of teenagers and their adventures over one evening. Based on Lucas’ own teenage years in the early 1960s in Modesto, the film features Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, and Paul Le Mat as they race around in a Chevrolet Impala.
