Community Outreach & Engagement
The Virginia Film Festival is about far more than what happens on our screens. The power of the movies to entertain, enlighten, inspire, and challenge us provides a jumping off point for important discourse that is informed by and enriches the community here and beyond. Join the conversation!
Family-friendly feature films, interactive arts workshops, a musical instrument petting zoo, Hollywood red carpet walk, premiers of youth films, and healthy food samplings are part of this exciting theater and street fair event on Saturday of the Festival weekend. All films and activities are free to our attendees!
Our Scholars Program offers a 6-day immersive, educational, and networking experience for UVA students.
These special events provide a safe and comfortable theater experience for children with sensory-related disabilities and their families.
We partner with the region's schools to screen relevant films and host educational panels.
Young Filmmakers Academy
Designed to engage youth in authentic film production, YFA introduces students to the challenge of filmmaking.
