The Wave

This disaster drama by director Roar Uthaug is Norway’s submission for the upcoming Academy Award Best Foreign Language film. Based on the real 1934 tsunami that hit Norway, the film takes place in the present day when a mountain falls into the Geiranger Fjord, causing a giant wave to come crashing down on a large tourist attraction. With spectacular rural backdrops and strong performances, The Wave was a hit at the Toronto International Film Festival.
