Aspiring actress Marziyeh is distraught when her father forbids her from studying at the prestigious Tehran Drama Conservatory. In an act of desperation, she sends a distressed video message to prominent Iranian performer Behnaz Jafari. Troubled by the contents of the video, Behnaz leaves her current film project in order to find and help Marziyeh. She recruits controversial director Jafar Panahi to accompany her on her search across the isolated countryside. Along the way, the journey becomes stranger and more prolonged, leading the pair to question the true motives behind Marziyeh’s cry for help.
