A Private Life
GALA SCREENING

In her first-ever French-speaking lead role, two-time Academy Award-winner Jodie Foster (Silence of the Lambs, The Accused) stars as Lilian, a successful American psychoanalyst living in Paris.
When she learns that one of her patients has died from suicide, Lilian is deeply rattled. She pores over tapes of their sessions and embarks on an obsessive private sleuthing mission to explore suspected foul play. The deeper she digs, the more irrational she becomes, and the more she is forced to confront unsettling truths about herself and her practice. French director Rebecca Zlotowski (An Easy Girl) masterfully mixes sly comedy with a deftly paced psychological whodunit that is equal parts chaotic and charming.
“Foster’s natural charisma sells it.”
-Peter Bradshaw, Guardian
“A throwback to Foster’s early career…deliciously overripe, almost campy”
-Peter Debruge, Variety
