Spring Night

When Yeong-gyeong passes out drunk at the end of a mutual friend’s wedding, Su-hwan decides to carry her to her home on his back. What begins as an awkward gesture of kindness becomes a daily routine, with both using this time together to navigate their own personal struggles – Su-hwan with alcoholism, Yeong-gyeong with arthritis. The longer this goes on, the more dependent on each other they grow, putting their respective healing in jeopardy.
Adapted from the novel by Kwon Yeo-sun, Kang Mi-ja’s first feature in 17 years brings the story to life with an understated visual poetry, portraying two people in crisis learning to lean on one another and illuminating how the smallest encounters can alter the course of a life.
