Based on Pulitzer Prize-finalist Denis Johnson’s novella, Train Dreams tells the tale of Robert Grainier (Golden Globe-nominee Joel Edgerton), who is surrounded by unprecedented change in early 20th century America. While working to expand the nation’s rail system, Robert grapples with spending time away from his wife Gladys (Academy Award-nominee Felicity Jones) and daughter. 

Set in the Pacific Northwest, this film puts to the screen often unseen railway laborers with unforgettable performances by William H. Macy (Fargo) and Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin). Adapted for screen by acclaimed writing-directing team of Greg Kwedar (Sing Sing) and Clint Bentley, Train Dreams captures a man trying to understand a world rapidly developing around him.

Introspective, dream-like its execution, and held together with a delicate revery for each character’s dignity—even in the face of challenging circumstances—Train Dreams is exactly the kind of big screen communal experience that cinema was made for.
