Directing actors on camera is one of the most misunderstood practices in the visual arts.
This workshop explores the Unspoken Language of Film Directing to create multi-dimensional film performances. Through lecture, demonstration, and illustrations, filmmakers will learn to inform performances sub-textually through staging, blocking, and visual storytelling.
ROB SPERA
Spera’s teaching philosophy is borne out of his extensive background in film, television, and theater as well as 20 years of teaching directing fellows at the American Film Institute Conservatory, the #1 film school in the world. Spera has directed the films The Sweet Life, Fathers and Sons, Leprechaun in the Hood, and Something Extraordinary and done episodic work on Supernatural, Criminal Minds, Suspect Behavior, and Army Wives. He is the Resident Director of the Tony award-winning Actors Theatre of Louisville.
