Filmmaker Jade Baxter chronicles the contemporary and historical struggles she and her community faced during the 2021 Lytton Creek Wildfire in British Columbia. Weaving together hours of footage the viewer is invited to witness a reflection of grief, climate catastrophe and colonial consequences with the Nlaka’pamux Nation. Despite the odds being stacked against rural Indigenous communities, the question is always asked: “Why Would I Leave”.
