James Gray (The Immigrant, Armageddon Time) delivers a taut and foreboding New York City 1980’s thriller that follows two brothers, Irwin Pearl (Miles Teller) and Gary Pearl (Adam Driver), as they and Hester Pearl (Scarlett Johansson) become entangled in a scheme that turns out to be too good to be true.

As they navigate their way through the dangerous world of the Russian mafia, family bonds begin to fray with life-altering consequences. The film probes weighty themes of family, guilt, and loyalty, while remaining engrossing and stylishly entertaining at every turn.
