A Fantastic Woman

Young waitress and aspiring singer Marina is a trans woman who is planning for the future with her lover Orlando. Following Orlando’s sudden illness and tragic death, the doctor and Orlando’s family grow suspicious of Marina and her involvement with his death, making her unable to peacefully mourn her lover. To make matters worse, Marina’s identity is considered an aberration by most of Orlando’s family. His ex-wife forbids her from attending the funeral and his son threatens to throw her out of the flat she shared with Orlando. Marina must battle with the difficulties of losing a lover while also fighting for a right many take for granted: her right to be herself.
