A LITTLE PRINCESS – Repertory Screening

A LITTLE PRINCESS-FINAL Play Button

After her father goes off to serve in WWI, Sara Crewe is swept away from the luxuriously wealthy life she lived in India and is sent off to an all-girls boarding school in New York City. Her lamentable situation takes a turn for the worse when Sara’s father is presumed dead, and the school’s headmistress – believing Sara is a penniless orphan – forces her into servitude.

Sara keeps her kind nature and hopeful spirit alive through the bonds she forms with the other girls and the fanciful stories she shares with them – stories that are products of her keen ability to turn the mundane into the magical. The sophomore directorial feature of the acclaimed Alfonso Cuarón (Roma, Y tu mamá también), this beautifully shot tale of a young girl’s determination to dream is immensely captivating and full of child-like wonder that is sure to move audiences of all ages.

“A bright, beautiful and enchantingly childlike vision.”
-Janet Maslin, The New York Times

“That rarest of creations: a children’s film that plays equally well to kids and adults.”
-Todd McCarthy, Variety
