As I Open My Eyes
On the eve of the Jasmine Revolution in Tunisia, young Farah must decide whether to accept her offer to medical school or follow her passion for music. Her underground rock band, known for their daring and subversive lyrics, has become the target of local police harassment. After Farah is detained and interrogated, she realizes that one of her friends must be a snitch. Inspired by director Leyla Bouzid’s personal experience, the film features original compositions by Iraqi musician Khyam Allami. As I Open My Eyes was selected as Tunisia’s entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards.
