During a night out with friends, young Tunisian student Mariam is brutally raped by policemen. Forced to seek help from the very group of people who attacked her, Mariam must go to different police stations to obtain a statement that would allow her to receive a medical exam – a rule for all rape victims in Tunisia. Mariam’s struggle for justice brings to light issues of sexism and misogyny in Tunisian society, as various men in positions of power dismiss her claims and urge her to withdraw her accusation to avoid bringing dishonor to her country.
