Carol
In 1950s New York City, young department store clerk Therese meets Carol, an alluring woman trapped in a loveless marriage of convenience. An immediate connection sparks between them, giving Therese a glimpse of a more fulfilling life as their undeniable bond deepens. When their romantic involvement comes to light, Carol’s husband retaliates by challenging her competence as a mother. A confrontation ensues that will test each woman’s assumptions about herself and commitments to one another. This poignant adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s The Price of Salt won the Queer Palm at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival for its honest story of resilience of heart in the face of change.
