For a fifth consecutive December, a heartbroken Noel returns to New York City to work the night shift at a sidewalk Christmas tree lot. Devoid of any holiday spirit, he struggles to stay awake during the long, chilly nights in his trailer. As the holiday season wears on, even the most colorful customers cannot save him as he slowly spirals into despair. One night he helps a mysterious young woman in the park, and her warming presence rescues him from self-destruction. Director Charles Poekel’s anecdotes from his own experience operating a tree stand in the city inform the naturalistic characters and arthouse aesthetic in his debut feature film.
