In the small town of Santa Cecilia, Mexico, aspiring musician Miguel is unable to accept his family’s ancestral denouncement of music. Idolizing the deceased guitarist and town hero, Ernesto de la Cruz, rebellious Miguel discovers the importance of family and legacy through his efforts to follow his dreams despite the disapproval of loved ones. In an attempt to justify his passion, Miguel is transported to the Land of the Dead and winds up on a journey to discover the truth about the generations-old ban on music in his family history.
