Combat Obscura
Combat cameraman Miles Lagoze served several years in the war in Afghanistan collecting footage for Marine Corps recruiting purposes. Lagoze has since edited together varying pieces of collected film to provide a never-before-seen look at the daily life of a marine from an ultimate insider’s perspective. The original footage offers haunting glimpses into the violence and intensity that becomes seemingly normal in the life of a soldier at war. This documentary explores the complexity of the blurred relationship between civilian and military life while simultaneously drawing attention to the psychological impacts of war on all those encounter it.
