Coming Through the Rye
Preceded by the short film Incubus
Inspired by the filmmaker’s own life story, the story follows 16-year-old Jamie Schwartz in his desperate attempt to be a worldly adolescent in 1969. Struggling to fit in at his all-boys boarding school, Jamie attempts to adapt The Catcher in the Rye as a play because of his unshakable belief that he will one day play Holden Caulfield. After increasing hostility from his classmates, he ends up running away to the mountains of New Hampshire in search of reclusive author J. D. Salinger. Jamie, with the help of a local girl named Deedee, discovers secrets about himself while on this odyssey to find the reclusive author. Discussion with director Jim Sadwith, director of photography Eric Hurt, producer Teddy Grennan, associate producer Erica Arvold, and co-producer Sara Elizabeth Timmins
