Court
An independent and multilingual film, Court examines the Indian legal system through the trial of an aging folk singer in a lower court in Mumbai. After a sewage worker’s dead body is found inside a manhole, Narayan Kamble is arrested and accused of performing an inflammatory song that may have incited the worker to commit suicide. Tamhane creates a realistic and deliberately paced drama with satirical undertones that explores how the personal lives of the players involved in the case affect their behavior in the courtroom.
