Drunktown’s Finest
Three young Native Americans — a college-bound student, a father-to-be, and a promiscuous transsexual — struggle to escape their Navajo reservation. Sick Boy, enlisted in the Army to support his family, is at risk of getting booted before basic training; Nizhoni, adopted by white parents, has spent most of her adolescence in faraway private schools; and Felixia, a pre-op transsexual, secretly turns tricks while living with her tradition-minded grandparents on the reservation. As the three flesh out each of their own problems, they find connections to one another as their stories begin to unwind and intersect. Discussion with director Sydney Freeland
