Eisenstein in Guanajuato
In 1931 Soviet filmmaker Sergei Eisenstein travels to Mexico to shoot a new film after being rejected by Hollywood. Despite increasing pressure to return to Stalinist Russia, Eisenstein arrives in the city of Guanajuato at the height of his artistic powers. Netherlands-based British director Peter Greenaway unapologetically explores the mind of a creative genius facing the desires of fear and love through explicit depictions of sex, death, fear, and desire. Eisenstein in Guanajuato vibrantly dramatizes the 10 passionate days that helped shape the rest of the career of one of the greatest masters of cinema.
