In Transit takes you on a journey into the hearts and minds of everyday passengers aboard Amtrak’s Empire Builder, the busiest long-distance train route in America. The final project of the late iconic documentarian Albert Maysles is cast against a landscape as beautiful and diverse as the stories of the passengers themselves. Candid and direct, the film unfolds as a series of interconnected vignettes, ranging from overheard conversations to moments of deep intimacy. While “real life” is suspended within this fleeting community, a loving portrait of America emerges. Discussion with filmmakers Lynn True and Nelson Walker and moderator Joe Fab
