Love at First Fight

Between hanging out with his friends and helping run the family business, Arnaud’s summer promises rest and relaxation. He enjoys this peace and quiet until he runs into Madeleine: as beautiful as she is brusque, and a concrete block of tensed muscles and doomsday prophecies. The two end up trekking to the same survivalist retreat, where a young romance emerges in the French woods. First-time director Thomas Cailley’s lighthearted film (originally titled Les Combattants) won all three of the awards given at the 2014 Cannes Directors’ Fortnight in an unprecedented and historic sweep of the categories.
