Mark Twain Tonight!
Featuring Hal Holbrook in a special live theatrical performance
The Virginia Film Festival is giving its audiences a chance to see one of America’s true acting treasures in one of the theatre world’s longest-running shows when Hal Holbrook takes the Paramount Theater stage for a special live performance of Mark Twain Tonight! Mr. Holbrook first performed the role as part of an honors project at Denison University after World War II, and performed the one-man-show for the first time in 1954. He is currently in his 60th consecutive year of performing Mark Twain Tonight!, and the Paramount performance will be his 2,298th in the role. He has performed the show in all fifty states, in twenty countries, behind the Iron Curtain, and before five U.S. Presidents. Mr. Holbrook continues to change the show, mining over 20 hours of material to fit the times.
Co-Presented by the Virginia Film Festival and The Paramount Theater
Supported by Signature, Charlottesville Newsplex, and the Office of the Provost and Vice Provost for the Arts
