In the wake of a school shooting, two sets of parents gather in a church basement to try and make sense of the senseless. An intensely powerful film shot almost entirely in one room, Mass gives a look into the grueling attempts to move on in the wake of unspeakable tragedy. Featuring standout performances from Ann Dowd, Martha Plimpton, Jason Isaacs, and Reed Birney, Fran Kranz’s directorial debut is a tragic exploration of gun violence and its lingering effects. Introduction by Chandler Ferrebee (VAFF), discussion with actor Martha Plimpton, moderated by Brian Truitt (USA Today)
