At just eight years old, Kit and his family were forced to flee Saigon during the Vietnam war. Now the young British Vietnamese man returns to his birth country for the first time in over 30 years. He departs from Saigon towards Hano, searching for a place to scatter his parent’s ashes, finding his homeland feels no more familiar to him than it would to any tourist. Along the way, he meets his estranged family and even begins to fall in love. This reflective feature offers a quiet glimpse into the complex process of self-discovery marked by the search for connectivity and homecoming in an environment where the past relies heavily on the present. Introduction by VAFF Advisory Board member Steven J. Kung
