New Order
A lavish wedding between the indecently wealthy is thrust into turmoil when an uprising of class warfare in Mexico gives rise to a violent coup d’ état in this near-dystopian narrative. Perspectives clash as the story unfolds both through the young, sympathetic bride’s eyes and the servants who work for (and against) her affluent family. Director Michel Franco’s suspenseful dystopian drama follows the collapse of one political system and the disturbing replacement that arises in its wake, providing a brutal yet incredibly revealing portrait of Mexico’s corruption-ridden and often heartless upper class.
