Stinking Heaven
In the early 1990s married ex-junkies Jim and Lucy run a crumbling commune for sober living out of their suburban New Jersey home. Despite constant bickering, they manage to create a haven for these outcasts. A housemate’s ex-lover disrupts the makeshift family’s harmony when she moves in while recovering from addiction. Her insidious presence sends them spiraling out of control. Director Nathan Silver captures this intimate chaos with a home-movie aesthetic as gritty and authentic as the characters themselves.
