Teen Press

Seven years ago, two optimistic Santa Barbara Middle School teachers, David Teton-Landis and John Seigel Boettner, saw a wave forming around the convergence of technology and journalism. In response, they pioneered the Santa Barbara Teen Press program to teach their students about culture and values through 21st-century journalism. Teen Press is a documentary short that follows the growth of the program over one semester, featuring students’ interviews with celebrities and unknown heroes across the United States. In a time when reports of America’s failing education system dominate U.S. media, this film showcases one school’s attempt to make a change. Discussion with director T.C. Johnstone and moderator Joe Fab
