Test Pattern

After being sexually assaulted by a stranger, Renesha and her boyfriend Evan spend the day driving around from hospital to hospital in Austin, Texas, searching for a rape kit. This interracial couple’s relationship is put to the test as they are forced to navigate the inadequate medical and legal institutions that surround and adjudicate cases like Renesha’s. Set against the backdrop of national discussions about an inequitable healthcare system, sexual consent, and racism in medicine, this part of psychological horror, part realist drama comes at a timely and unprecedented moment. Discussion with director Shatara Michelle Ford, and actors Gail Bean and Amani Starnes, moderated by Soraya McDonald (The Undefeated) to follow.
