The Evening Hour
Cole Freeman maintains an uneasy equilibrium in his declining Appalachian mining town, working as a health aide in a nursing home while also selling excess prescription painkillers to local buyers to make ends meet. But when his old friend returns with dangerous plans to capitalize on the local drug trade, the fragile balance Cole has crafted is suddenly threatened. With his dilemma posing a threat to the town’s future, Cole’s deep emotional attachment to his home forces him to take desperate action to protect his friends, family, and the landscape that binds them all together. Discussion with director Braden King, screenwriter Elizabeth Palmore, and actor Michael Trotter, moderated by Jeff Sharlet (VQR) to follow.
