Beginning with the crew of a doomed submarine, the story soon spirals outward into fantastical and enigmatic plotlines, going high into the air, around the world, and into dreamscapes. With the help of codirector Evan Johnson, Maddin combines whimsy with delirium to create a kaleidoscopic viewing experience.
