The Kindergarten Teacher
Director Nadav Lapid explores what happens when fascination becomes obsession in this story about a teacher who becomes consumed by the poetic genius of her five-year-old student. When Nira, the titular protagonist, discovers that her student possesses an extraordinary talent for poetry and language, she pushes the boundaries of their relationship in an attempt to cultivate the boy’s gift. Powerful and with a self-assured aesthetic vision, Lapid reveals the dangers of both mediocrity and passion in this engrossing film. Introduction by Harry Chotiner
