The Road Movie

Preceded by the short film Solstice (3 min.)
Consisting entirely of footage from dashboard cameras in Russian cars, the wide range of cleverly edited episodes on the road constitutes a raw portrait of life in Russia. The footage was collected from various websites, including YouTube, and provides an objective viewpoint since a dash cam has no ability to influence its subject. The images are often bizarre, including a hellish forest fire, a military tank at a car wash, a hysterical wedding guest, and angry motorists brandishing weapons. Jaded commentary from the unseen Russian passengers instills a quintessential Russian attitude into the experience.
