Preceded by the short film In the Shadow of the Pines.
The students at San Francisco’s predominantly Asian-American Lowell High School are high achievers. As one of the top high schools in the country, students from all around San Francisco are pulled into a deeply competitive environment. Over the course of the film, we follow seniors through the school as they try to impress admissions officers from elite universities with their stellar transcripts and even more charming personalities. Try Harder! is a portrait of students as they navigate the current education system while coming into their own.
