ZURAWSKI V TEXAS
In 2023, Amanda Zurawski almost died when she was denied an abortion. When her water broke prematurely and she was sent into septic shock, her request for the emergency procedure was refused in accordance with Texas state abortion laws – the most restrictive in the nation. In the wake of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Zurawski’s experience is not unique.
From filmmakers Masie Crow and Abbie Perrault, this documentary offers an intimate look into the legal fight that Zurawski – and the twenty one other women who co-signed her suit – put up for reproductive justice. Co-produced by Hillary and Chelsea Clinton and Jennifer Lawrence, Zurawski v Texas is an unflinching and timely glimpse into the impossible-to-ignore realities of the current state of reproductive care.
Introduction by Anne Coughlin (UVA).
“This unflinching survey of Texas’s overly restrictive abortion laws smartly presents reproductive healthcare as a bipartisan issue.”
-Tomris Laffly, Variety
