Russ Kunkel is an acclaimed drummer, producer, and songwriter. While house band at the legendary Whisky-A-Go-Go, his group Things to Come opened for Cream, Traffic, The Byrds, and more. Kunkel played on James Taylor’s debut album, Sweet Baby James, and went on to rock with George Harrison and Bob Dylan. He also wrote, performed, and recorded with jazz-rock group The Section. Kunkel’s songwriting credits include hits with Aaron Neville, Clannad, Joe Cocker, Jimmy Buffett and “Tender is the Night” with Jackson Browne and Danny Kortchmar. He created/co-produced scores for films including Mike Nichol’s Heartburn. Additional artists he has collaborated with include Steve Winwood; Linda Ronstadt; Dan Fogelberg, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; Joe Walsh; Carole King; Bob Seger; Stevie Nicks; Simon & Garfunkel; Carly Simon; Clannad; Bonnie Raitt; The BeeGees; Reba McEntire; Kenny Rogers; Wynonna; and Lyle Lovett. Kunkel’s band The Immediate Family released their self-titled album in August 2021.
