Virginia Film Festival Announces Launch of Applications for 12th Annual Adrenaline Film Project

Popular 72-Hour Filmmaking Project Culminates In Special Screening on Saturday, November 7

Charlottesville, VA – September 22, 2015 – The Virginia Film Festival is preparing to deliver its annual highly-caffeinated dose of energy and excitement with the launch of applications for its popular Adrenaline Film Project.

The Virginia Film Festival, coming up from November 5-8 at venues throughout Charlottesville, is presented by the University of Virginia and the Office of Provost and Vice Provost for the Arts.

Now in its 12thh year, the Adrenaline Film Project is a 72-hour guerrilla filmmaking adventure in which 10-12 teams made of up of filmmakers from throughout the region pitch, write, cast, shoot, edit, and screen their own 5-7 minute films with guidance from acclaimed guest mentors.

This year’s mentors will once again include AFP co-founder, noted filmmaker and Charlottesville native Jeff Wadlow, along with Charlottesville-based filmmaker Derek Sieg and acclaimed acting coach Leigh Kilton-Smith. The mentors work closely with each team throughout the process, and the project concludes with a competitive screening and awards ceremony before a live audience at Culbreth Theatre on Saturday, November 7 at 9:00 PM.

In addition to working with the Adrenaline Film Project mentors, Adrenaline filmmakers often have the opportunity to interact with and learn from high profile VFF guests. In past years, Adrenaline film sets have been visited by legendary director Norman Jewison (In the Heat of the Night), film and television producer Mark Johnson (The Chronicles of Narnia, Breaking Bad), Brad Silberling (Director, Lemony Snicket), Ron Yerxa (Producer, Little Miss Sunshine), and many more.

For information about how to apply to be part of the 2015 Adrenaline Film Project, visit virginiafilmfestival.org/adrenaline/.  Submissions are due by 5:00 PM on Friday, October 16. We will notify selected participants on Friday, October 23.

Actors and composers can also participate in this year’s Adrenaline Film Project. Arvold Casting will manage a database of available actors and host an Actors Meet and Greet on Tuesday, November 3.  Interested composers can sign up to participate by completing the 2015 Composer Form.  For information on both opportunities, visit virginiafilmfestival.org/adrenaline/.
