Diamantino

Diamantino, the world’s premiere soccer star (Carloto Cotta), loses his special touch and ends his career in public disgrace. Searching for a new purpose, the Portuguese icon sets out on a delirious odyssey where he confronts neo-fascism, the refugee crisis, genetic modification, abuse at the hands of his evil twin sisters, and a hunt for the source of genius. Both a political satire and a sci-fi fantasy, the chaotic nature of the film reflects the growing disorder in the world today. This deranged and hilarious feature debut from filmmakers Gabriel Abrantes and Daniel Schmidt won the Grand Prix Award at the 2018 Cannes Critics’ Week. Note: The film features adult themes and nudity.
