Don’t Cry, Butterfly

Grand Prize Winner, Venice Film Festival—International Critic’s Week
Despite running a popular wedding hall, Tam’s expertise in romance is very publicly derided when her husband’s infidelity is broadcast on Live TV.
With nowhere else to turn, she seeks spiritual guidance from the “Master,” hoping to bring her husband back to her by mystical means. However, her dabbling in the supernatural comes back to haunt her when a mysterious force, visible only to women, establishes itself in her home. Through a dreamy, surrealist lens, Don’t Cry Butterfly offers a fresh perspective on womanhood, family structure, and Vietnamese traditions.
