Jülide Etem, author of Film Diplomacy, and Jason Evans Groth, Moving Image Curator at the Library of Congress, delve into the hands-on work of film preservation. Etem’s research on the uses of documentary films in international relations offers a starting point for discussing how moving images are studied, preserved, and reused. Groth brings a curator’s perspective from the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center in Culpeper.

They will explore the industry-leading techniques and approaches to preservation, and touch on the best ways to utilize historic film collections in classrooms, support new research, and open pathways for careers in film preservation and archival work.
