How I Got Over

Before taking the stage for a groundbreaking one-night-only performance at The Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, 15 formerly homeless women craft an original play based on their harrowing true-life stories. For 12 weeks, the women of N Street Village – a community for addiction recovery—discover their untapped artistic talents on stage, finding the courage to reckon with their traumatic histories in each rehearsal. Illuminating the transformative power of the arts on the lives of individuals, How I Got Over documents the creative process of these 15 emboldened women as they reflect on their lives together on stage in front of a packed house.
