World Premiere

Sometime, Somewhere sheds light on the challenges faced by Latino communities in Charlottesville, Virginia against the backdrop of immigration driven by factors like climate change, poverty, and drug-related violence. Though each person’s journey to this city is unique, collectively they weave a tapestry of shared experiences marked by fear, resilience, and hope. This complex issue unveils itself against the backdrop of the tragic fall of the Twin Towers and the 2021 assault on the Capitol, events that reshaped the perception of immigrants in America.

Captured with evocative black-and-white lensing, individuals gaze directly into our eyes as they recount their daily struggles and stories of preserving in the pursuit of the American dream.

Award Presentation by Andy Edmunds (VAFF Board).

Discussion with director and producer Ricardo Preve (VAFF Governor Gerald L. Baliles Founder’s Award). Moderated by Levi Vonk (UVA).
