Karoline (Vic Carmen Sonne, Godland) is a young seamstress who finds herself abandoned and pregnant while striving to climb out of poverty in post-WWI Copenhagen. With her husband missing and presumed dead during the war, she can’t pay rent and is subsequently evicted from their home. Destitute and soon pregnant to another man, she falls under the spell of charismatic candy-store owner Dagmar Overbye (Queen of Hearts), who promises Karoline a home, a job and a solution to her problems.

Inspired by one of Denmark’s most infamous serial killer cases, The Girl With The Needle is at once chilling and timely—offering an unvarnished look at the lengths a woman will go to in pursuit of survival in a coldly patriarchal and unforgiving society.
