THE SUMMER BOOK

THE SUMMER BOOK_FINAL

Adapted from Tove Jansson’s classic 1972 novel, The Summer Book depicts the unique relationship between an elderly artist (Glenn Close) and her granddaughter, Sophia. Young Sophia, her father, and her grandmother spend the summer on a tiny island in the Gulf of Finland as they each deal with the recent death of Sophia’s mother in different ways. Director Charlie McDowell’s stunningly-shot film brings Jansson’s most beloved characters to life and celebrates the fierceness of all-encompassing love. The Summer Book features performances from eight-time Academy Award nominee Glenn Close, Anders Danielsen Lie (The Worst Person in the World), and features the debut of Emily Matthews as Sophia.
